Functionality

Relay’s app for Slack serves two primary purposes:

1. Unlocking Relay for Slack automations.

   

2. Sending Relay for Slack notifications.

   

Relay sends notifications for all sorts of things, some examples:

• When someone assigns you a task
• When there is a form ready to be filled out
• Check off Relay tasks

By default, these come through email. But once you connect your Slack account to Relay, they’ll come to you via Relay app for Slack instead.

Connect your Slack account

• Go to Relay’s “Manage your apps” page
• Scroll down to find Slack, click on the Connect button next to it

Access requests

Once you click on “Connect”, you’ll see a standard Slack permissions screen asking you to approve access. These permissions are ultimately necessary to offer the above functionality.

What Relay requests can be broken up into two high-level buckets:

• What information does Relay read from Slack?
• What information can Relay write into Slack?
